Let’s be honest – staying motivated and inspired all the time is hard. It’s not only hard, it’s very very hard. I often find myself feeling pumped up and ready to go for a few days and then after I’m back down being mediocre again. When that happens to me, I try to constantly remind myself quotes to help keep me inspired.
I don’t believe any quote can be “overrated” simply because lots of people use it. To me, quotes mean different things to different people. Some quotes only apply to one aspect of your life; something that may never be completely understood by someone else. Here are my top 5 favorites!
“If not me, who? If not now, when?”
-Emma Watson, after Rabbi Hillel
This quote has resonated with me so much. There are so many times where I say to myself, “I want to change this” or “One day I want to do this,” but I never end up doing it. This quote basically says to you, GO FOR IT and go for it NOW.
“You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think and loved more than you know.”
-A.A. Milne from Winnie the Pooh
This is a quote that I heard when watching Winnie the Pooh when I was younger. It made sense at the time but re-reading it nowadays, it is a good reminder to help you believe in yourself. You are brave, strong and smart enough and someone will always be there for you.
“You have been assigned this mountain to show others it can be moved.”
Sometimes I look back on my life and think, why couldn’t I be happy being like everyone else? Why can’t I be happy going to work 9-5pm every day – clocking in, clocking out? To me, this quote means that I was given a different mountain from everyone else. It makes me happy to think of this quote because it means that I am able to make a difference and not subject myself to the status quo.
“Falling down is an accident. Staying down is a choice.”
Honestly, this quote means so many different things at this point in my life. How long will you choose to stay down? How long will you settle? How long are you not going to speak up?
“Whatever you do, never run back to what broke you.”
I’ve made this mistake more than once. It is always easier to go back to what you were comfortable with. It’s easy to give up and say it’s okay, this time it will be different. But it never will. Don’t look back.
