noms: green tea falling snow + injeolmi toast at hooshik

March 26, 2017

As you know if you been following my Instagram posts, I went on a bit of a food venture when I went home to LA. Sometimes I find it hard to tell people I’m from there and give them recommendations on what to eat and do because I personally haven’t done much myself. Most of the time, I only go home for two days or so, so it’s really hard to get anything done. I was back for six days the last time so I was super pumped to finally get to try things out!

Most places I see on Insta (which is where I find places to go) are pretty far out in downtown LA or on the west side. Since my parents work in the SGV, I had to search long and far for a place I could go to that was fairly close. Hence, I stumbled upon Hooshik.

noms: matcha soft serve at matcha matcha

March 22, 2017

So far, my LA trip has been great. I’ve been eating and exploring lots especially in the San Gabriel Valley area. Sometimes trying to find new places can be difficult in an area as large as LA county. I definitely still have lots to try but first, let’s talk about Matcha Matcha. Matcha Matcha is located in the Westfield Santa Anita Mall in Arcadia, California. It specializes in matcha flavored goodies, specifically soft serve, drinks and cookies.

noms: getting baked at mr. holmes bakehouse

March 19, 2017

When I think of a painted white brick wall with neon lights, I think of Mr. Holmes Bakehouse. I’ve seen pictures of this place all over my Instagram feed so I’ve been wanting to come for a while. Stuffed croffins, cream filled donuts and dipped croissants–what’s not to like?

For Justin’s birthday this year, I decided to take him to Las Vegas for the weekend! He’s been wanting to go for a while so I thought what better way to celebrate than to celebrate with gambling, drinking, and all the other deadly sins? Everything in moderation of course. It was mainly a food venture, so we didn’t go too crazy.

nyc restaurant week 2017: butter

January 24, 2017

Restaurant Week is one of my favorite NYC events. It is usually hosted once in the winter (2-3 weeks) and again in the summer (another 2-3 weeks). It gives New Yorkers like me the opportunity to try out all the various $$$-$$$$ restaurants in the city without being too intimidated by the price and menu. Essentially, it helps you try out nicer restaurants by offering prix fixe menus for $29 for lunch and $42 for dinner.

This time around, I’m going to four restaurants – Butter, Riverpark, Casa Lever, and Hearth.

Yesterday was the first day of Restaurant Week. It lasts until February 10th here in NYC. I thought it would be helpful to go through each place I’ve been to during the RW events so I can keep track and also recommend to others where to go.

Now, onto my review for Butter. Just a hint, I’m giving it ★★☆☆☆.

back to the grind.

June 19, 2016

I must say, this week has been difficult for me. After taking 5 days off from everything – going to the gym, homework, work, etc. – I’ve been totally out of it. 🙁 Luckily, my Moleskine notebooks came, so I started my bullet journal! Since it is still a work in progress, I will be writing a separate post on that.

Now onto getting back into the grind.

la trip with justin

June 13, 2016

I just came back from a five day trip in LA!

Lots and lots of pictures for you all, so please bear with me. 🙂 I’ll try to make it as much like a picture diary as possible with little stories here and there.

Shall we?

memorial day weekend 2016: long beach + updates

June 1, 2016

First off, I guess there a couple of things to settle here.

I am once again going through lots of decisions in my life. Last week, I closed the real estate chapter of my life. It got to a point where I was starting to become unhappier and unhappier with each passing day. So there’s that.

I will be starting classes at Parsons next Monday. There’s that.

I have officially restarted Kayla Itsines’s BBG workout. I thought it would be helpful to blog about my weekly experiences not only with BBG but my health in general.

Now that I got that off my chest, onward to Memorial Day weekend spent at the beach! 🙂

a day in philly.

May 24, 2016

Somehow, I forgot to blog about this trip. I was looking through my old posts yesterday and thought, hey where’s Philly? Luckily it didn’t happen that long ago so I still remember everything, sort of.

I’ve wanted to go to Philly for a while now for two reasons.

  1. UPenn was my dream school when I was applying to colleges. It still is.
  2. Philly cheese steak!! (That wasn’t sentimental at all.)

Justin and I decided to drive there for a day trip and that we did.

returning to the windy city.

May 15, 2016

Last time I came back from Chicago fairly unsatisfied. I knew I needed to go back again and take advantage of the city more! Granted, my trip the firs time was a bit short (a day and half-ish), so I didn’t have time to do everything I wanted to do. When I found out about a JetBlue sale, this was on my list of places to go to.

How exciting! First off – I learned from the last time. I packed very warmly. That made my trip 100 times better than the last time. Second – I had places on my list from last time that I didn’t get to check off so that was great starting point.
